Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games (MMORPGs) are video games that allow a large number of players to interact with each other within a virtual world. In an MMORPG, players create a character and control its actions, interacting with other players and non-player characters (NPCs) within the game world. MMORPGs typically involve a persistent game world that continues to exist even when a player logs out, allowing players to interact with each other at any time. Players can form groups, called guilds or clans, to work together to achieve goals, such as completing quests or defeating bosses. MMORPGs often include a variety of character classes, each with unique abilities and strengths, as well as a progression system that allows players to level up and improve their characters over time. They can also feature complex economies, where players can buy and sell items and participate in crafting and gathering activities. MMORPGs have become increasingly popular since the early 2000s, with some of the most popular titles including World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, and Guild Wars 2.
