Industry Player - Uniquely Different - Fresh Graphics
(5/5) Reviewed by User: Dinger on 2003-11-04
This recently published game is a refreshingly different and very intelligent addition to the collection of online multi-player games. It stands out uniquely in its genre. A welcome departure from the far too many combat games offering the same old same old, bereft of originality with little that is original. Conversely, Industry Player, still in BETA testing, is a new concept of strategy sim, unlike the majority. Although a text-based interface, there is an abundance of slick fresh graphics, which present a nice "feel" of quality and excellence. The software is genuinely "bug-free". The game developer is not only thorough, but responsive to player suggestions. Just two months following publishing, player-suggested features have been promptly implemented and the third update is already being trialed with further new features added. If the development of the game continues to progress at the rate it currently is, this game will be hard to beat for quality of graphics and seamless user friendly functions; for a good level of interest and challenging gameplay to test player skills. The concept of the game:- As the name suggests it is not a blood and guts combat game. War is waged in a corporate backdrop, rather than on an open battlefield between columns of troops. Strategy begins in company boardrooms. Player decisions involve high finance, a choice of industries to enter, manufacturing of products, price wars, marketing strategies, liquidations, upsizing into multi-billion dollar markets, profit margins and even bankruptcy. Each player can incorporate a maximum of five companies. Each company operates independently of the other. You are the Boss, you make the decisions. New features are being and will be added continually to improve the game's pace and rate of challenge to player skills. I think it will be worth the wait for these. In the meantime, now is an excellent opportunity to start the learning curve which will serve to familiarise players with the game's concept - in readiness for the "cutting edge" stuff yet to come.
